Growing up in the seaside town of Portaferry, Co. Down - "where everyone knows your name", as he says with a grin - the young Ryan gave up his youthful passion for hurling in favor of music. Today he is one of the most exciting young singer-songwriters, but was a self-confessed late bloomer when it came to his musical career. Now 32, McMullan may have spent his early years playing catch-up, but admits that "music has always been a part of my life". Having toured the globe with some of the world's best-known artists including Ed Sheeran, Snow Patrol, Kodaline and Foy Vance, Ryan quickly understood his role and has toured the world himself. With his debut album "Redesign" due for release later this year, nothing stands in the way of an incredible year for Ryan McMullan. He says of his new work: "An album that has redesigned itself over and over again: 'Redesign' is finally here. It began as a redesign of sound and aesthetics, but quickly morphed into a redesign of spirit. The challenges of loneliness, depression and the restrictions of the pandemic brought forth true moments of love, hope and joy. A form of therapy at a time when I needed it most."
To top it all off, Ryan McMullan will go on tour again in September and also play concerts in Cologne, Berlin and Munich.
