Goldie Boutilier is a Canadian singer-songwriter. Raised on the music of Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton, Goldie's music is known for its cinematic quality and exploration of tragic romance, glamor and melancholy. Goldie made her first appearance at the age of five, using her family's junkyard as a rehearsal space. She signed her first record deal with Interscope Records at the age of 21.
After a series of labels and different stage names, Goldie returned to her roots in her hometown and re-established herself as an alt-country star with a nod to the Americana sound of the 1950s and 1960s. She started again from scratch, with just her name and her stories. As an independent artist, she achieved more than 11 million streams on streaming platforms in just two years. Her new musical era was quickly embraced by the likes of Zane Lowe and Elton John, she was booked for legendary festivals such as Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits and was even personally invited by Orville Peck to open his North American tour.
Her EPs "The Cowboy Gangster Politician" (2022) and "Emerald Year" (2023) contain references to her youth in a small town on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, as well as candid insights into her experiences as a young naïf in Hollywood.
Her EP "The Actress" promises to be her best release to date. During the writing process, she embarked on a journey through integrity, purity, vulnerability and ultimately a healing return to herself. Included here are Goldie Boutilier's true stories: From the power struggles to control her career, to being exploited by "The Man", to realizing the limits of her willingness to sacrifice for her dreams. And finally finding the strength to carry on despite everything.
