The indie pop sensation from Canada is coming to Germany with her new album "Magpie" in April 2025
Peach Pit got off to a rocket-like start with their laid-back sound on their debut EP "Sweet FA" and their debut album "Being So Normal". They self-deprecatingly describe their own music as "chewed bubblegum pop" and deliver a mixture of melancholic pop, laid-back indie, folk and surf rock, complemented by spoken word elements and catchy melodies. The quartet went viral in 2016 with the song "Peach Pit" from their first EP and laid the foundation for a great career. the band's biggest hits to date followed in 2017 with 'Alrigthy Aphrodite' (137 million streams on Spotify) and 'Tommy's Party' (102 million streams), which also included 'Shampoo Bottles' (86 million streams) from their second album 'You And Your Friends', released in 2020. After an Audiotree performance, a tour supporting Two Door Cinema Club as well as their own headline tours and performances at festivals such as Bonnaroo, Day In Day Out, Lollapalooza and many more, Peach Pit will return to Europe in 2025 with their new album "Magpie". In April 2025, the band will be coming to Germany for three concerts in Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin.
Back in 2014, singer & guitarist Neil Smith and guitarist & keyboardist Chris Vanderkooy decided to start a musical project together. in 2016, the project was joined by bassist Peter Wilton and drummer Mikey Pascuzzi and officially formed as a band under the name Peach Pit. In the same year, the EP "Sweet FA" was released, which revealed the band's first hit with "Peach Pit", went viral and was streamed more than 25 million times by 2017. The four-track EP now has more than 220 million streams on Spotify. In the same year, the quartet worked on their debut album "Being So Normal", which was released in 2017 via the indie label Kingfisher Bluez, also from Vancouver, and further expanded their success with its laid-back vibe and groovy tracks such as "Drop The Guillotine", "Alrighty Aphrodite" and "Tommy's Party". Due to the continued success, the band members quit their jobs after the release of "Being So Normal" to tour North America, Europe and Asia for the first time in 2017 and 2018. After signing to Columbia Records, the long-awaited second album "You And Your Friends" was released in 2020, which stood out from the debut with a more mature sound, but continued the band's relaxed indie vibe on "Black Licorice" and "Shampoo Bottles" with subtle psychedelic influences. The third album "From 2 To 3", which was released in 2022, continued to develop this sound and celebrated further success with tracks such as "Up Granville" and "Give Up Baby Go". Also in 2022, guitarist, keyboardist and violinist Dougal McLean joined the band.
On October 25, 2024, "Magpie" was released as Peach Pit's fourth album. The accompanying title track was released in August 2024, followed by the single "Did You Love Somebody", an emotional acoustic ballad in singer-songwriter style that contrasts with the rock sound of the "Magpie" single and points to the musical versatility of the fourth album.
