One of the most exciting artists currently in the UK, Bakar comes to Berlin and Cologne for two shows in November. He offers the lyrical power of a rapper, the virtuosity of a producer and the pop craft of a singer-songwriter. After two sensational mixtapes, co-signs by several members of the music nobility, model campaigns with Louis Vuitton or Prada and a single that topped the Billboard charts in the U.S., he's going on tour in November.
in 2017, he released his official debut single "Big Dreams" - a fast, catchy post-punk track. In 2019, Bakar released "Hell N Back," an infectious, utterly irresistible single that eventually reached No. 1 on the Billboard Adult Alternative chart. The "Will You Be My Yellow?" EP, which features a more diverse, experimental sound and includes a collaboration with Dominic Fike, followed shortly after.
2022 saw the release of the debut album "Nobody's Home," a collection of darker meditations on Bakar's ever-evolving sound. Combining acoustic guitar licks with swinging rhythms and lyrics about identity, politics and mental health, Bakar explored themes close to his heart on the album. "I reflect on things that are inextricably linked to politics, but I never wanted to be a political artist," he says. "I think the only responsibility I have is to be honest about what's going on inside me and around me. I get messages from people telling me that certain songs have helped them get through difficult times, or even in the extreme cases, led them away from a precipice, and I'm really happy to be able to offer that to them." Bakar's confidence is huge and his ambitions are even bigger.
In 2023 he plans to release his next album "Halo", the work of a grown man who is no longer a bad child.
