BERANGER
Ups and downs characterize the epic structures from which Beranger's unique sound is forged. In insane arrangements, the duo, consisting of a classical pianist and a drummer, lets their listeners simultaneously dive into ice baths and burst into flames. Just as gloom and ecstasy collide unchecked in their music, the two members of the band project Beranger also seem to collide and meet at high speed. And when Australian Todd James and Frenchman Beranger Gras meet in front of a live audience, their unstoppable energy infects everyone from indie kids to mature rockers. For years, the two have been telling their very own stories on the streets of Berlin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5FQPj0mg2M
NUN FLOG DR. BERT RABE
Once Mila sang in a pub and Hannes listened, he learned to play the piano with YouTube tutorials so the two of them could form a band. The band name "Nun flog Dr. Bert Rabe" sucks, but the rest turned out pretty good: They make songs about the usual, e.g. about paper planes, giraffe droppings, scarecrows or carpenters in retirement. No idea what the music is called that comes out of it. Anyway. In any case, the world was still missing. Their instruments: vocals, viola, loop station, beats, piano, beer and cigarettes. Favorite food: Spinach with potatoes and egg. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m85sJIlXsqA&t=1s
SOFT DRUG
With their neo R&B, Soft Drug unleash a world of emotions that lies dormant within the band members and otherwise rarely gets the opportunity to surface. As a necessary output for identity crises, the longing for security or the arduous liberation from a toxic masculinity, Soft Drug write songs of a wadded-up tenderness on the one hand and on the other tracks that seem so splintery and shaky, as if the band had put them under electricity and water. Edgy synth landscapes meet rolling beats. Attention to detail meets tidy structure. Soft Drug create the scenario for a radiantly high pop vocal, whose clearly drawn doubts and questions convey an immediate depth. (Text source: Musicboard Berlin)
