"A song must never sound to me as if I felt nothing while writing it," says Lejo about himself and his music. Always on the move, he gets to the bottom of his observations for this and is not afraid to listen inside himself. Exactly this is reflected in all his songs, which stylistically play with a wide range of pop, funk and soul, but always authentically dive into his emotional world. The music of the Hamburg artist, whose music also always gives a little insight into his own life, is correspondingly diverse. "I am influenced a lot by what I have experienced in my songs. Both in terms of content and musically, I absorb a lot from my environment and then process it in songs. So even looking back, I can always hear what was going on in my life at the time I wrote the song. A bit like an open, musical diary."
In the process, he has already experienced a few highlights on his musical journey, leaving his first footprint on the German music scene: Discovered by Scoop, the management of Bosse, he goes on his own club tour, plays his first own concerts as well as support artists for artists like Bosse, KLAN and Antje Schomaker. Nevertheless, he is far from having arrived: "I always like to remind myself of all the things I've been able to experience. Nevertheless, I still have so many goals and plans. I would finally like to play live again! That is the most beautiful thing for me and so far incomparable with everything else I have experienced. Being on stage, sharing music with people and of course world domination. That should probably be in it."
With his EP "just there." lejo now shares a new chapter of his musical diary - seven songs in which he directs his gaze to the small, inconspicuous things in the here and now, lets himself be inspired by encounters and sometimes picks up on unexpected fears. With his own signature, he manages to breathe a little lightness into the melancholy and create rays of hope. He lays the foundation for his music on his own in his small Hamburg studio: "I have some great people who help me with the final polish of songs and was allowed to learn a lot from successful producers like Robert Stephenson, Jens Schneider and Fayzen in the past years, which helps me today when producing. In the meantime I've developed a good feeling for my compositions and tinker with the songs until the instruments, lyrics, melody and voice give off exactly the vibe I feel. When that's done, I'm looking forward to sharing them with the world!"
