Guitarist and singer is considered one of the most promising representatives of the "Young Generation of Blues"
He is honest, passionate and authentic - these three attributes apply equally to the blues and the musician Florian Lohoff. The Berlin guitarist and singer is considered one of the most promising representatives of the "Young Generation of Blues", whereby he likes to explore the genre boundaries between funk, soul, rock and pop to create his very own style. In the meantime, he has caused a sensation both nationally and internationally.
Within the blues scene, Florian Lohoff is no longer an unknown quantity. Old masters like Walter Trout or Henrik Freischlader have engaged him as support and invited him to jam sessions. Apart from Germany, the young talent also performs regularly in England, Belgium and the Netherlands. The fact that Florian Lohoff always leaves a lasting impression is not least due to his equally carefree and dynamic way of playing. It all began for him when he held a guitar in his hands for the first time at the age of seven. "Since then, this instrument has become an expression of my feelings," says the musician. In the course of a high school stay in the U.S., he then got to know, in addition to the American attitude to life, those role models who shape and inspire him to this day. "The blues is the basis for me - but always with a rocking twist," Florian Lohoff emphasizes. "And the groove has to be right!" in 2011 he founded his own band and has already released three albums. Already the debut album "Life Time Shuffle" made the experts sit up and take notice. "Florian Lohoff can express a lot with just a few notes, lets notes fade out or tastefully places fills between his vocals," was the verdict of "Gitarre & Bass" magazine. About the album "Tangled Up In Blue", released in 2015, a reviewer wrote "If there is something that you definitely can't accuse the guys of, it's boredom and one-dimensionality. For there is, on the one hand, the authenticity with which they go to work and, on the other hand, the freshness with which Florian Lohoff and his boys unpretentiously present their ten songs, all from their own pen, of course." His latest album is titled "Risin'" and is his most personal work to date. Ruthlessly reflective lyrics meet rousing guitar solos and a groovy funk spirit that touches deeply, and not by chance. "I took a lot of time with the songwriting for the creative process," Florian Lohoff tells us. "Each of the twelve songs speaks deeply from my soul and reflects my inner emotional world." This convinces not only die-hard blues fans, but in the meantime also the feuilleton e.g. at Deutsche Welle or Deutschlandfunk, both of which have reported extensively on his music and his work. In addition, there is a wealth of other positive press comments, which especially praise the special live qualities of Florian Lohoff. "Without big gestures, without fancy sayings, without pompous appearance his music comes along," one concert review reads. "He doesn't need a lot of glamour, he just wants to make music. And he does it damn well!"
