Summer 1970: Rio Reiser sings "Macht kaputt, was Euch kaputt macht" - the birth of the political and cult rock band Ton Steine Scherben. Like no other German band, the Scherben express the attitude to life of their generation. But Rio Reiser is also a charismatic loner. When the band split up in 1985, Rio began his solo career. Behind the political rocker, the romantic dreamer emerges, who gives expression to the longing for security and love in his songs.
Jan Plewka and the Black and Red Salvation Army put this vulnerable Rio at the center of their evening. And when they play the songs of the former "King of Germany" such as "Halt Dich an Deiner Liebe", "Alles Lüge", "Junimond" or "Für immer Dich", it goes far beyond a mere rock concert. Because Jan Plewka, the frontman of Selig, is on this evening singer, musician and actor at the same time. He is very close to his idol and yet always remains himself. And the audience is enraptured, enthusiastic, touched. They succumb to his voice and his charm in equal measure.
This concert tour with the songs of Rio Reiser has been going on since 2005. And even after more than 250 concerts, the evening has lost none of its urgency and charisma. Quite the opposite - what the Hamburger Abendblatt had already written at the premiere still applies: "Anyone who wants to howl with happiness," it read there, "must go and see this evening."
