On January 25, THE NU BAND & JIM BLACK & THE SHRIMPS are guests at the Kesselhaus. This concert takes place as part of the NEW YORK JOURNEY concert series

The Nu Band is a classic working band, featuring top-notch musicians throughout, all renowned bandleaders themselves. After Roy Campbell passed away in 2014, German exceptional trumpeter Thomas Heberer took his place in the Nu Band. They are joined by Joe Fonda, Lou Grassi and Mark Withecage - all old hands of improvised music, still full of energy and drive. Deeply rooted in the jazz tradition, The Nu Band transfers old ldiome into the here and now. Classic bebop, gospel, soul, free and lots of improvisational freedom.

Jim Black has been playing drums for twenty-eight years. Born in 1967, he grew up in Seattle, WA, playing music from garage rock to big band swing. In 1991 he moved to Brooklyn, NY, and has since become one of the most sought after drummers in the jazz/new music scene.
